The holidays are the greatest time of year. With laughter and good cheer, being spread for all to hear. With carols being sung, and lots of baking getting done. What child could resist, getting a Jack Frost kiss. Building Frosty in the snow, sledding down the snowy slopes. Decking the halls with boughs of holly, trimming the tree, and being jolly. Santa's Reindeer

The story behind Santa's reindeer comes from a compilation of two different poems written almost a hundred years a part. In 1823, Clement C. Moore wrote a poem called, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," in which he described in detail what the magical figure looked like and gave him eight flying reindeer. This story is also known as "Twas a Night Before Christmas" in modern times. Once the eight reindeer were established, a hundred years later, Robert L. May wrote a poem using the same rhyme as Moore's called "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" in 1939. The rest, as they say, is history. While all nine reindeer have their place within the holiday's we want to know: which reindeer is your favorite?

Top Canadian Road Trip Destinations: Vancouver to Tofino, British Columbia

Even if you aren't from Canada, this is one trip worth the travel time. Starting at Horseshoe Bay for the ferry ride to Nanaimo, then off for a beautiful coastal drive around the various mountains and lakes along the Pacific Rim Highway, its beauty will not disspaoint. The drive will continue along the coast and through an ancient temperate rainforest but be sure not to take a nap, you might miss some of the natural wildlife coming out to play. As you drive, be sure to stop at the Coombs Country Market for a view of their famed Goat on the Roof view. While you're there be sure to take a stroll through the Cathedral Grove forest before heading off to Canada's surf capital, Ucluelet. Be sure to ride the big waves before reading your final destination of Tofino. This trip will won't just have you enjoying the majestic scenery but also checking out some of the local wildlife Canada has to offer. 

The World's Most Dangerous Roads: Bolivia's Death Road

As roadways become more sophisticated and structurally sound in the more developed countries, we forget that in many underdeveloped third world countries, roads without any form of safety precautions. Many roads still remain unpaved, lacking guardrails, retaining walls and switchbacks that keep motorists safe while traveling to and from their destinations. 

One road that remains treacherous for drivers is the so-called "Death Road" in Bolivia. Known locally as Bolivia's Old Yungas Road, this dangerous 40-mile stretch of unpaved roadway is known for its sharp turns, plunging guardrail-free cliffs, and steep hills. Don't be fooled by the recent construction,  this deadly drive claims more than 100 lives each year.

Fall Car Maintenance Tip: Windshield Wipers for Snow

In winter, snow, fog and rain can seriously impair your visibility while driving. That is why it is important to inspect your vehicles wiper blades before winter hits. Wiper blades usually only have a lifespan of one year, so be sure if that time has elapsed that you replace them. 








A good way to check your wiper blades, is to check and see if your vehicle has the newer "beam blade" style wipers. The beam style blades doesn't contain an external spring to freeze up, which make them better for winter.

If you're stuck in the snow or any other freezing or below freezing weather, do not forget to turn off your wipers when you park. This allows your wiper motor's to not fight to get frozen wipers moving again. Another trick to avoid your wipers freezing is to pop them up. This makes it much easier to scrape your windshield when it gets covered in ice and snow.

Haunted Roads: Harrison Avenur's Dead Mans Curve

In Cincinnati along Harrison Avenue there is a sharp turn given the name, Dead Mans Curve, due to all the fatalities. The legend is that a phantom hitchhiker walks the roadside, instilling drivers with a sense of fear and panic. While many never see the phantoms face, those that have say he is burned to the bone, with flesh hanging from his decaying face.  They say that the hitchhiker is the ghost of a molasses truck driver from 1953 who failed to make the final curve. The driver bowled over a pole and went through an entire block before ending in the kitchen of a first floor apartment. While the driver was still alive, the propane tank that heated the molasses exploded and he burned to death. Could this phantom hitchhiker be the ghost of the truck driver? Or is he just a figment of peoples overactive imaginations.
